What is a Power Hour?

This is your chance to pick my brain.

In just one hour you can access 30+ years of recruitment and selection experience.

I’ve recruited for thousands of vacancies, working with hundreds of employers and seen countless CVs.

Whether you are looking to find a new role or change careers – I can help.

Who is a Power Hour for?

It’s for you if you want expert 1-2-1 advice to get your job search unstuck and are ready to take a step towards that career you’ll love.

You know what you can do and have great experience to offer.

You want a new role and you’ve tried everything you know to get one, you’ve sent out dozens of CVs and chased recruiters but, somehow, you’re not cutting through the noise.

There’s often a complete mismatch between what employers are looking for and how applicants present themselves. Which is why you may think you’re perfect for a vacancy but don’t even get interviewed.

Alternatively, you might currently be feeling indecisive about your career options. Perhaps you’ve fallen out of love with what you do.

Maybe you want to step up, step down or you fear that you’re high on a career ladder that’s leaned against the wrong wall?  Or perhaps you’re worried about either making the wrong decision or not being able to find work at all.

What happens in a Power Hour?

You’ll get my undivided attention for a whole hour to talk through any of the career/CV/recruitment issues that I can help with. If you’re feeling stuck, trapped or just don’t know where to start, I can give you clarity on what you have to offer and how to stand out and get noticed.

We’ll have a one hour 1:1 video call; you don’t need to leave home to meet me.

BONUS: I’ll send you a video recording of our conversation for future reference.

What can be covered in a Power Hour?

There’s a huge number of things that can be covered in a Power Hour and it’s focused exclusively on your needs, but to give you an idea, you might have questions around:

  • Is my CV good enough?
  • Are my skills and experience in demand?
  • Do I need to tailor my CV to each role?
  • How do I use LinkedIn?
  • Do I need a cover letter?
  • How do I work with recruiters and head-hunters?
  • Where are the vacancies at my level?

Or maybe it’s been years since you’ve last looked for work. There are so many questions tied up with careers it’s easy to get tangled up in your thoughts and prevent yourself proactively moving forward.

I can show you what works and tell you why it works and help you take your first step towards a career you’ll love.

I can give you:-

  • Unvarnished but helpful feedback on your CV
  • Simple but effective formulas for showcasing your value
  • Efficient ways of job searching
  • Tips on building your network on LinkedIn and getting more opportunities
  • An understanding of best practice with recruiters and head-hunters
  • Insider knowledge on how to perform well at interviews
  • Assistance with negotiating offers

Should you book a Power Hour?

Frankly, the Power Hour is not for everyone. If your first question is about money, it’s possible that you don’t value your career enough to make the investment. That’s ok, you can sign up for my free job search advice here.

The Power Hour takes commitment and hard work. You’ll be challenged and it’s likely that you’ll need to re-think your approach to job search, rip up your CV and start again. You’ll need to step out of your comfort zone, if you’re looking for passive or sheep-dip learning this is not for you.

You’ll need to be open-minded. The principles used in the Power Hour are business proven but not often used in job search (Hint: that’s what will make you stand out) and you’ll need to be savvy to recognise the approach. It will also help if you’re reasonably good at writing – copy / pasting from your job description into your CV is banned in the Power Hour.

But, if you’re happy with these commitments, I’d love to work with you and I genuinely believe that this could be the beginning of something life-changing for you.
